How it works

Ninety days to real changes. Then it's yours.

Every engagement starts the same way. I learn how your week actually runs before recommending anything.

Days 1–30

Listen and map

I sit down with you and the people doing the work. We walk through a normal week, task by task.

  • A list of where time goes, with hours and cost
  • The two or three changes worth making first
Days 31–90

Build and hand over

We make those changes together. Sometimes that means building something. Often it means getting more out of the tools you already pay for.

  • Working changes, in use by your team
  • Training and plain-English notes on how it all works
Fixed fee, agreed up front
Year one and beyond

Plan what's next

You leave with a written plan for the rest of the year. I can help with it, or your team can run it.

  • A one-year roadmap, sold separately if you want help
  • A longer look at what's possible, at no charge

What I ask of you

Changes stick when someone inside the business owns them. So I only take on work with a few commitments in place.

  • A named sponsorUsually the owner or a lead. They make decisions and clear the path.
  • Weekly timeA standing check-in each week, plus access to the people who do the work.
  • Sign-offYou approve each milestone before we move on.
  • A shared viewYou get a private client page that shows where every item stands, updated as the work moves.
Who it's for

Small businesses where the owner still does too much.

Most clients have 5 to 30 people and have outgrown the way they did things at 3. If any of these sound familiar, we should talk.

Trades

  • Every estimate written from scratch
  • Invoices waiting on the owner to find time
  • Job photos and notes that never make it back to the office

Service businesses

  • Schedule changes handled in group texts
  • Recurring billing checked line by line
  • New customer details copied between three systems

Professional practices

  • Client documents chased by email, again
  • The same ten questions answered every week
  • Intake forms retyped into practice software

Not on the list? That's fine. Our process works the same in any business with repeat work.

Automation & AI for small business

Looking for help with AI? Start here.

A lot of owners come to me because someone told them they should be using AI. Maybe a vendor pitched it, or a competitor seems to be ahead. That is why I am here.

I build with AI tools every day, and sometimes they are the right answer. Just as often the better fix is simpler. A setting in software you already own. A service that costs forty dollars a month. A change in who does what.

My job is to tell you which is which, and to back it up with numbers from your own business. You get the fix that pays off, whatever it's called.

About

I'm Mark Aldred. Ledgeway is me.

I spent more than 15 years leading software engineering teams at a large enterprise technology company. Most recently I led a 50-person organization through a change in how it used automation day to day. That meant new tools, but mostly it meant new habits and new ways of solving problems.

I started Ledgeway because small businesses rarely get that kind of help. Big firms have operations teams. A 12-person company has an owner who is already working weekends.

When you hire Ledgeway, you work with me directly. I don't hand you off to a junior team, and I don't sell software.

Questions

Common questions

Is Ledgeway an AI consulting firm?

Partly. I help small businesses decide where AI and automation make sense and then put them to work. But the goal is the right fix, and sometimes that's a process change or an off-the-shelf service. I'll recommend whatever pays off for your business.

Will I need to keep paying you after the 90 days?

No. Everything is built to be handed over. Your team gets training and written notes so they can run it and change it without me. If you want help with the year-one plan, that's a separate choice.

What does it cost?

The first engagement is a fixed fee agreed before any work starts. It depends on the size of the business and how much we build. We'll talk numbers on the intro call.

How much of my team's time will this take?

A short weekly check-in with your sponsor, plus a few hours with the people who do the work during the first month. After that it's mostly testing and training.

Do you only work in certain industries?

No. Trades, service businesses, and professional practices are where I see the most repeat work. Any business with 5 to 30 people and a lot of manual steps is a good fit.

Do you work on site?

Yes, across greater Boston, MetroWest, and Rhode Island. The first month usually includes time on site. The rest can be remote.

Tell me what eats your week.

Send a few lines about your business and the task you'd most like to stop doing. I'll reply within one business day to set up a 30-minute call. No pitch deck.
